Rain Returns to Area Forecast; Severe Weather Unlikely

 Rain is expected to return to the region beginning Thursday, with a high likelihood that most areas will receive measurable precipitation, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Forecasters indicate that while rain coverage will be widespread, rainfall amounts are expected to remain relatively modest. Most locations are forecast to receive one-half inch of rain or less. A few thunderstorms may develop during the event, but the National Weather Service reports that the risk for severe weather is extremely low.

Following the rain, a brief cool-down is anticipated on Friday as cooler air moves into the area. Temperatures are expected to dip temporarily before rebounding over the weekend and into early next week, with a return to warmer-than-average conditions.
