MONTGOMERY – Two big reasons why Cherokee County High School senior running back Keyshawn Woods was able to post over 2,200 rushing yards this football season were 6-foot-7 senior lineman Asa Holbert and 6-4 senior tight end Ben Moseley.
Holbert, a top 50 prospect in Alabama, is the stalwart of the Warrior offensive line, coached by Todd Wheeler. He’s started every game during his junior and senior seasons, and played in 38 games throughout his Warrior career.
In 11 games this season, he had 44 pancake blocks with no pressures allowed and gave up just one sack. He had a 98 percent run block efficiency, and 99 percent efficient when the Warrior backs ran behind him.
Moseley, a Duke commitment, is one of the top five tight ends in Alabama. A starter in 41 games, Moseley had 12 pancakes and 15 knockdowns this season. He graded at 98 percent in run block efficiency and at 92 percent as an open field blocker.
Moseley also proved to be a reliable target in the Warrior passing game. He finished the season with 19 catches for 260 yards and four touchdowns.
Both Holbert and Moseley have been rewarded for their success on the football field. They’ve been selected to play for the North All-Stars in the 67th Alabama High School Athletic Association’s North-South All-Star Football Classic.
The game will be played at Mobile’s Hancock Whitney Stadium on Friday, Dec. 12, with kickoff at 2 p.m.
Moseley and Holbert become the first Warrior players selected for the game since 2023, when former lineman Zack Gaylor was chosen for the North squad.
The South holds a 35-29-2 lead in the series after last year’s all-star game. The North won that contest 45-24 last December.
