Family Care Center was thrilled with the success of Thursday night’s Movie in the Park at Centre City Park. Approximately 100 community members gathered for an evening of family fun, fellowship, and generosity.

Admission to the event was a canned food donation, and thanks to the kindness of those who attended, 127 canned food items were collected to help stock the Family Care Center’s food pantry and serve local families in need.

Although July evenings in Alabama can often be hot and humid, the weather proved to be a pleasant surprise. Attendees enjoyed comfortable temperatures and even a refreshing breeze, making it the perfect setting for an outdoor movie.

Before the movie began, children filled the playground with laughter while adults enjoyed visiting with friends, neighbors, and new acquaintances. Children and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, popcorn, and cotton candy. KT’s Mobile Munchies served delicious food throughout the evening, and Decks & Docks helped everyone stay refreshed with cold drinks.

“Our goal from the very beginning was to create an opportunity for our community to simply come together,” organizers said. “The movie was important, but the fellowship, conversations, and seeing families enjoy time together was the real success of the evening.”

Family Care Center would like to thank everyone who attended, donated food, volunteered, and supported the event. The overwhelming community response made the evening a memorable one and demonstrated once again the generosity and spirit of Cherokee County.
