Home Invasion Suspect Arrested in Marshall County

Marshall County authorities have arrested a man in connection with a reported home invasion early Thursday morning.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a 911 call around 6:25 a.m. on September 18 regarding a possible break-in at a residence in the 3600 block of Highway 79 North (Scottsboro Highway). The caller, who was inside the home at the time, reported hearing glass break and someone entering the residence.

Deputies and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Grant Police Department, responded to the scene. After clearing the home, authorities determined that the suspect had fled on foot. The resident was unharmed.

A deputy patrolling the area later spotted a man matching the suspect’s description walking along the roadway. Investigators reviewed video evidence and obtained witness statements confirming his identity. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The man, identified as Wilmer Alfredo Fernandez Martinez, 28, of Honduras, was charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Theft of Property in the 4th Degree. Officials confirmed with federal immigration authorities that Martinez is in the country illegally. He is currently being held in the Marshall County Jail without bond under an ICE detainer.
