Kentucky Man Arrested in Fort Payne Bank Robbery
FORT PAYNE, Ala. – Authorities have arrested a Kentucky man in connection with the robbery of PNC Bank in downtown Fort Payne on September 9.
An arrest warrant was issued the following day for 62-year-old Mark Loveless of Somerset, Kentucky. He has been charged with first-degree robbery. FBI Task Force Officers from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Loveless in Pulaski County, Kentucky, without incident.

Fort Payne Police Chief David Davis credited the quick resolution of the case to strong cooperation between agencies and the community.
“I want to thank our officers for their swift response to the robbery and our investigators for their diligence in resolving this case quickly,” Davis said. “We are also grateful to the FBI Birmingham for their prompt assistance and to the local business owners whose security footage played a key role.”
FBI officials also praised the partnerships that helped bring the case to a close.
“Partnerships empower law enforcement to act with strength, speed, and success against crime,” said Special Agent in Charge David R. Fitzgibbons. “FBI Birmingham is grateful to the extraordinary partnerships with the Fort Payne Police Department, FBI Louisville-London Resident Agency, and our FBI Pulaski Task Force Officers as we work together to keep our communities safe.”
Loveless is being held in the Pulaski County Jail, pending extradition to Fort Payne. Authorities say he may also face federal charges related to the robbery.
