Mutual Aid Response Contains Structure Fire in Rainbow City
Rainbow City, AL – A coordinated response between multiple fire and public safety agencies helped quickly contain a structure fire on Riverton Road Thursday afternoon, preventing further damage and ensuring no injuries were reported.
The Rainbow City Fire Department was dispatched to the scene for a reported structure fire, with Units 30, 31, 32, Company 1, Company 2, and Southside Engine 1 responding Code 3. Upon arrival, Unit 30 reported heavy smoke coming from the Alpha side of the residence and confirmed a working fire, immediately assuming Incident Command.
Quint 1 crews launched an aggressive interior attack, achieving a rapid knockdown of the flames, which were contained to a second-floor bedroom. Engine 1 assisted with checking for fire extension, while Southside Engine 1 conducted a primary search of the residence. Engine 2 was assigned Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) duties to ensure firefighter safety.
Mutual aid and support came from several agencies, including the Rainbow City Police Department for traffic control, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office ESU, and A-Med Ambulance Service, which provided rehabilitation and medical support on scene. Utility companies Alabama Power and Spire Gas were also notified.
Thanks to the swift response and close coordination among the responding departments, the fire was brought under control quickly, and no injuries were reported.
Officials praised the teamwork between departments and emphasized the importance of 24/7 staffing and the dedication of volunteer firefighters in maintaining community safety.
