Two Injured in Fort Payne Altercation Involving Firearm
FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Two people were injured Friday evening after an altercation involving four women escalated and one allegedly used a firearm, according to Fort Payne Police Chief David Davis.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at the ball fields in the Douglas Community. Officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a disturbance.
Authorities say the confrontation turned violent, and a gun was used during the altercation. One woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the weapon being discharged.
Emergency personnel transported two individuals to DeKalb Regional Hospital. Both were treated for injuries and later released.
Following an investigation at the scene, police arrested 45-year-old Tommorrow Latrice Betton. She has been charged with first-degree assault and is currently being held in the Fort Payne City Jail.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
