CHEROKEE COUNTY– The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office hosted an in-service training for law enforcement officers from agencies across Cherokee and DeKalb counties.
The training included several presentations focused on investigations, legal updates and officer-involved shooting investigations.
ABC Board Investigator Mike Reece presented a session on controlled substances investigations.
District Attorney Summer Summerford and Deputy District Attorney Brady Burns presented a legal update for officers.


Brent Thomas, with the Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics, presented a session on officer-involved shooting investigations.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office thanked the instructors for sharing their expertise. The office also thanked the officers who attended for their commitment to continued training and professional development.

The Sheriff’s Office said working together and investing in quality training helps law enforcement better serve and protect communities in Cherokee and DeKalb counties.
