Arrests Made in Rainbow City Roadway Shooting Incident

RAINBOW CITY, Ala.- Authorities say two suspects have been charged following a shots-fired incident Sunday night on Friendship Road in Rainbow City.

Around 8 pm on January 26th, officers with the Rainbow City Police Department responded to reports of gunfire from the roadway. When officers arrived, they began investigating with assistance from the department’s detective division.

Investigators say several people were gathered outside a home around a bonfire when a vehicle was seen driving past multiple times. The vehicle later stopped in the roadway, and shots were fired toward the group.

During the investigation, officers determined one of the occupants was the ex-boyfriend of one of the victims.

The vehicle was located later that evening with a juvenile suspect inside. A second suspect, 19-year-old Chase Anthony Paul of Hokes Bluff, was arrested at a separate location.

Paul faces five counts of Attempted Assault and one count of Attempted Domestic Violence in the First Degree. His bond is set at $140,000. The juvenile has also been charged, but no further information is being released due to their age.

Police thanked the Southside Police Department and the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office for assisting with the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
