Cedar Bluff’s Wood delivers clutch homer in tie with Ashville; Lady Tigers defeat Valley Head in Gadsden Umpires Tournament

RAINSVILLE – Mia Wood’s solo home run on a 0-2 count in the bottom of the sixth inning helped the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers tie Ashville 1-1 in the Gadsden Umpires Tournament on Friday. The Lady Tigers also defeated Valley Head 6-1.

In the tie with Ashville, Rylie Walker also contributed a hit for the Lady Tigers. Mackenzie Kimmons started in the circle and gave up a run on six hits with no walks and no strikeouts in four innings.

In the win over Valley Head, Kylie Vadon led the Lady Tigers offensively with three hits, including a pair of doubles. Paityn Walker also had three hits. Rylie Walker and Tylee Bradford also collected multiple hits for Cedar Bluff.

Kimmons allowed a run on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts in four innings. Emma Blanks worked an inning an allowed two hits with a walk and a strikeout.
