Gadsden Firefighters Raise Over $10,000 for MDA in Annual Roadblock
GADSDEN – The Gadsden Firefighter’s Association, Local 454, is celebrating another successful year of fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). During this year’s annual MDA Roadblock, held on Saturday, firefighters and volunteers raised an impressive $10,300 — not including the countless coins donated at intersections throughout the city.
All funds raised go directly to supporting families affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other neuromuscular diseases. Firefighters say the generosity of the Gadsden community continues to make a meaningful difference.
“Your support makes a real impact in the lives of so many, and we are proud to stand alongside you in this fight,” the association said in a statement.
Since 1954, the International Association of Fire Fighters has partnered with MDA on the national level. Locally, Gadsden firefighters have raised more than $350,000 over the years through their “Fill the Boot” efforts.
The Gadsden Professional Firefighters, Local 454, expressed gratitude to residents who contributed, noting that it is only through the community’s generosity that these milestones are possible.
“From all of us at Gadsden Professional Firefighters Local 454 — thank you for standing with us in making a lasting impact,” the group said.
