Fresh off his award-winning #1 single, “Dirt Cheap”, and the recent release of his much-anticipated duet with Carrie Underwood, “I’m Gonna Love You”, Cody’s Leather Deluxe Tour will make a stop in Birmingham, AL on both Friday and Saturday, October 24th & 25th at Legacy Arena at the BJCC. Cody will be joined by rising Country music star, Ian Munsick, on Friday night and Grammy nominated, Marcus King Band on Saturday. Known for his explosive live shows and electrifying stage presence, Cody has established a following of passionately loyal fans who regularly sell out shows across the country. The Tennessean claimed, “Cody Johnson showcases rising mastery of his country craft. When decent will no longer cut the mustard, and excellence makes you an award-winner, then ‘burgeoning mastery of the craft’ becomes the standard that defines why and how you achieve your following accomplishments.”

Multi-Platinum selling artist Cody Johnson was recently nominated for seven awards for the upcoming 60th Academy of Country Music Awards including, Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“Dirt Cheap”), Single of the Year (“Dirt Cheap”), Music Event of the Year (“I’m Gonna Love You” with Carrie Underwood) and two nominations in the Visual Media category for “Dirt Cheap” and “I’m Gonna Love You.” The May 8th show will be hosted by Reba McEntire and returns exclusively on Prime Video live from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, TX, airing 8 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. CDT / 5 p.m. PDT.

The nominations give an exclamation point for Cody’s current two-week reign at #1 with “I’m Gonna Love You.” Written by Chris Stevens, Kelly Archer, and Travis Denning, the song has garnered more than 200 million global streams. Music critics have praised “I’m Gonna Love You” claiming it as a ‘classic country duet’ blending Cody’s ‘charismatic baritone’ with Carrie’s ‘commanding delivery.’ The pair performed it on the “58th Annual CMA Awards,” where Cody took home the coveted Album of The Year award for Leather. Just last month, Carrie made a surprise appearance at one of Cody’s two sold-out concerts at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville to deliver the song live for the fans.

Cody’s 2024 #1 single “Dirt Cheap,” written by Josh Philips, was awarded as Storyteller of The Year at the 2024 “People’s Choice Country Awards.” Bob Oermann in Music Row Magazine said the song was “a masterful country performance on every level. The tug-at-your-heartstrings lyric is powerful enough, but Johnson’s delivery kicks it into another realm. A superstar at work.”

ABOUT IAN MUNSICK (Friday show only)
A native son of Wyoming, Ian Munsick is painting a stampeding, spirited portrait of the American West with his sophomore album White Buffalo, out now. The 18-track album spans unfiltered tales of romance and ranch life, hard-working anthems with honkytonk hooks and mountain-time odes to family and forever-young fun. It builds upon the spacious roots-pop beauty he introduced on his major label debut, Coyote Cry. Over the past three years, the 30-year-old has accumulated almost 1 BILLION global streams and a host of accolades. He has been named an “Artist to Watch” by Spotify, CMT, Fender, MusicRow and more.

A seasoned entertainer, having grown up tending cattle by day and playing music in a family band each night, Munsick toured recently alongside country music superstars Morgan Wallen, Cody Johnson & Lainey Wilson as well as selling 100K+ headline tickets in 2024 alone. Beyond his noteworthy professional accomplishments, he has also become both a husband and a father. Now the Warner Music Nashville recording artist and multi-instrumentalist is representing his home, and its special cast of people, like never before. The first release from White Buffalo, standout duet “Long Live Cowgirls” (with Cody Johnson), hit No. 1 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown, was named one of Amazon Music’s Best Country Songs of 2022 and recently received RIAA Gold-certification alongside “Long Haul” off his debut album Coyote Cry. Fans of Ian Munsick will always find an open heart, natural awe and plainspoken honesty as he rides on… bringing the West to the rest.

ABOUT MARCUS KING BAND (Saturday show only)
Marcus King faces heartache, addiction, and mental health head-on in his music. Pain quakes below the vibrato of his voice, and his delivery weighs heavy with booze-drenched regrets and mistakes in lonely hotels. The GRAMMY® nominated fourth generation musician from Greenville, SC, started playing guitar at 8-years-old following in the footsteps of his guitarist Father and Grandpa. Logging thousands of miles on the road as “The Marcus King Band,” he established himself with unparalleled performance prowess. During 2020, he linked up with Dan Auerbach and cut his solo debut, El Dorado, garnering a GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Americana Album.” Between headlining venues, he performed alongside Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, and Nathanial Rateliff in addition to gracing the bills of Stagecoach and more. He has launched various mental health initiatives, including a guitar auction collaboration with MusiCares. Now, his 2024 album, Mood Swings, feels like the moment of baptism when water washes away a life’s worth of sins and degradation and all that’s left is a revived, yet still real-as-hell primal scream. It’s as if King strained raw soul straight from his gut up through that broken heart and on to the record under the watchful eye of Rick Rubin. Emphasizing his vocals front-and-center more than ever before, the trusty guitar he’s so often associated with plays the sideman this time around (though there’s no shortage of impressive shredding). For as dark as everything seemed, you can’t help but feel a sense of hope in the power of Marcus’s voice.

“The majority of our songs are specific to situations I’ve lived,” King explains. “I write as a form of therapy, to release my emotions into a musical expression. I want people to know they’re not the only ones going through that pain. Music is the true healer. And when we perform, we want the audience to leave feeling as tired and as emotionally freed as we do. It’s all about getting the stress of the day off your chest. It’s like therapy.”
