A body was discovered Wednesday Afternoon in the Lawrence Community on County Road 80 in Cherokee County.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office

“A 911 caller reported a man lying on the side of the road on County Road 80 on Wednesday afternoon. Deputies and EMS responded to the scene and discovered a Georgia man deceased next to his vehicle. The death appears to be the result of a drug overdose.  The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and is transporting the body to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy.”

The persons identity has not been released at this time.  This is a developing story, and will be updated if more details become available.
