Sand Rock boys fall short against Whitesburg Christian

GUNTERSVILLE – Despite connecting on 13-of-16 free-throw attempts, the Sand Rock Wildcats fell short against Whitesburg Christian in boys basketball action on Monday night. The final was 57-48.

Cam Gifford led the Wildcats with 19 points, including a 7-of-8 performance from the charity stripe. He also had 12 rebounds and a pair of assists.

Will Cleere contributed 15 points, 11 rebounds and an assist. Ty Traffanstedt tallied 11 points, seven assists and three rebounds.

Kaden Ragland-Morris topped Whitesburg Christian with 22 points , which included hitting 10 of 15 free throws. Turner Lemmond and Thad Landman both connected on a pair of treys and had 10 points. Brooks Cochran collected eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Whitesburg Christian led 18-14 at the end of the first quarter and held a 29-19 advantaged at halftime. Sand Rock cut its deficit down to five at 41-36 after three quarters, but Whitesburg Christian pulled away in the fourth for the final.

Sand Rock hosts Spring Garden on Friday.
