WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for certain raw boneless chicken breast products sold in Alabama and several other states because they may contain an undeclared egg allergen.

The alert, issued Thursday, involves 21-ounce vacuum-packed packages of Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat that were produced on June 2, 2026.

The affected products are marked with a “Best If Used By” date of June 28, 2026, lot code 15326A, and establishment number P-45288B printed on the packaging.

According to FSIS, the products were distributed to Kroger and Fred Meyer retail stores in Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon, and Washington.

The agency said the issue was discovered after a retailer found that while the correct front label had been applied to the package, the wrong back label—which contains the ingredients statement—had been attached. As a result, the product failed to disclose that it contains eggs, one of the nine major food allergens.

Although FSIS did not request a recall because the products are no longer available for purchase, officials are concerned some packages may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers.

Consumers who purchased the affected chicken products are urged not to eat them. Instead, they should discard the products or return them to the place of purchase.

No confirmed illnesses or allergic reactions related to the products have been reported. However, anyone who believes they may have experienced an allergic reaction after consuming the product should seek medical attention.
