Warriors’ Black baffles Trojans in 6-1 baseball win

CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-1 win over visiting Gaylesville in baseball action on Thursday.

Nate Black picked up the win on the mound. He tossed 5 2/3 innings and gave up an unearned run on two hits with a walk and 12 strikeouts. Parker Wilson worked 1/3 of an inning and gave up two hits with a strikeout. Ben Elsberry tossed an inning of no-hit ball with a pair of strikeouts.

Wilson led the Warriors (12-4) at the plate by going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Cooper Rodgers had a hit and drove in a pair of runs. Cooper Allen added a hit and scored a run.

Jace Turner walked twice and scored two runs. Luke Young walked and drove in a run. Jeb Crane and Case Hill both walked and scored a run. Adam Griffith also scored a run.

Gaylesville (9-2) left five runners on base over the final two innings. Braden Sharp, Collin Hendon, Jack Sentell and Karrson Ray had the Trojan hits.

Alex Baty suffered the loss after working 6 2/3 innings. He gave up five earned runs on four hits with five walks and a strikeout.
