A two-vehicle accident in neighboring Etowah County, sent one person to the hospital for treatment, while the second vehicle sped away.

The wreck occurred just before 2:50pm on I-59 outside of Gadsden – and involved a 2023 Hyundai Elantra driven by a male from Slidell, Georgia – and a Ford Explorer which immediately left the scene – after it had failed to stop and struck the Hyundai from behind.  The driver of the Elantra was unhurt, however a female in the vehicle did require a visit to Riverview Regional Medical Center for treatment.

That wreck occurred on Wednesday afternoon, and it still remains under investigation.
