Cool/Cold Temperatures Ahead for Cherokee County

Alabama’s streak of warm days will come to an end Saturday – with more winter-like temperatures in the forecast.

The National Weather Service is expecting some rainfall with a cold front today (Friday) but no severe storms; that rain could begin during the day in south Alabama – then a cold front later tonight – will bring a chance of showers to the rest of the state.   It won’t be much rain though – the weather service said a quarter inch or less will be possible – with amounts diminishing – as that front works its way southward.

The big change on Saturday will be the drop in temperatures.  Instead of highs in the 60’s and 70’s – they’ll instead top out in the low 40’s in north Alabama, mid-40’s to upper 40’s in central Alabama – and low to mid-50s in south Alabama.  Lows will fall into the 30’s overnight, for places behind the front in north and the northern part of central Alabama, while the rest of the state will stay in the 40’s and 50’s.

Saturday night into Sunday will feel – cold – when compared with recent temperatures; lows will bottom out in the low 20’s in north Alabama, the 20’s to low 30’s in central Alabama and low to mid-30’s in south Alabama

The weather service expects temperatures to slowly climb THROUGH the next week – and ALL of Alabama should have highs in the 60’s and 70’s – by next Wednesday.
