CALHOUN COUNTY– A dive team recovered the body of missing Eastaboga boater Dedric L. Brown from Hillabee Reservoir Wednesday afternoon.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division said the recovery followed a search that began Monday.

ALEA also described the case as a single-vessel marine-related event.

The last confirmed sighting of Brown, 54, occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7. At that time, he was operating an aluminum jon boat on the reservoir.

The missing-person report came at approximately noon. Soon afterward, multiple agencies began search and rescue operations in the area.

On Wednesday, Sept. 9, a group from Christian Aid Ministries located Brown’s body at approximately 2:10 p.m. The group found him approximately 26 feet below the water’s surface within the initial search area.

Then, a dive team began recovery operations and recovered Brown’s body at approximately 2:38 p.m.

Responding agencies included the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Pell City Police Department Dive Team, Clay County Rescue Squad, and Cane Creek Fire Department.

The Oxford Police Department, Randolph County Rescue Squad, and Etowah County Sheriff’s Office/Rescue Squad also assisted.

In addition, the Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency, Alabama Emergency Management Agency, Christian Aid Ministries, and ALEA Marine Patrol supported the operation.

However, ALEA said Marine Patrol Troopers continue to investigate. No additional information was available.
