The Spring Garden girls and boys are headed into the Class 1A postseason as two of the teams to beat. The defending state champion Lady Panthers (26-1) maintained their top ranking, and not far behind is the Panther boys (22-4), who moved up to No. 3 in the final Alabama Sports Writers Association high school basketball poll of the season.
The final rankings were released early Thursday morning.
Everything else remains unchanged for area teams heading into area tournament play. Cedar Bluff’s girls (19-10) and Sand Rock’s girls (21-7) hold steady at No. 8 in classes 1A and 2A respectively. The Cherokee County Lady Warriors (22-4) continued to be nominated in Class 4A.
Collinsville’s boys (18-9) hold on to their No. 5 ranking in Class 2A. Piedmont’s boys (13-10) continued to be nominated in Class 3A.
