The Centre City Council met for their monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon. Among the usual business handled, the council approved a motion to re-appoint Gary Davis to the CED Mental Health Board for a six-year term. A motion was also approved to appoint Josephine Bandini to the Centre Planning Commission for a six-year term.
The council addressed the need to approve a ‘Voting Delegate’ and alternatives for the Annual Business Meeting at League Convention. Mayor Mansfield was decided upon as the Voting Delegate while Bess Yarborough and Phillip Roberts were selected as alternative delegates.
The Council discussed the upcoming spring cleanup week which will be the first week of May. Residents can get bags to leave by the side of the road for cleanup. Cleanup will occur on the same day of your trash cleanup.
The council also discussed sponsorship of the Gadsden state 5k/One Mile walk/run. A motion was approved to sponsor the event at the gold level for $1225.00.
Chief Kirk Blankenship came before the council to ask for an emergency funding motion to replace a transmission in one of the department’s patrol vehicles at a cost of $3800.00. The council promptly approved the motion for the expense.
The council announced that Gadsden State will be having a hiring fair on April 18th from 8am-12pm 12pm-2pm.
The next meeting of the Centre City Council will be Tuesday April 25th.
