Owls Hollow Road In Etowah County Will Close For Three Months To Relocate Highway 411

The Alabama Department of Transportation says Owls Hollow Road in Etowah County will close to through traffic, beginning Monday, for about three months because of work to relocate U.S. Highway 411.

Owls Hollow Road between U.S. 411 and Shinbone Ridge Road will be impacted by this construction.

ALDOT in a news release gave assurance that residents will be able to enter and exit the segments of Owls Hollow Road north or south of the new U.S. 411 alignment, but through traffic will not be permitted. Spring Avenue will be used as a detour during this period.

“The $34.3 million Rebuild Alabama project to construct a four-lane U.S. 411 from Turkeytown in Etowah County to west of County Road 20, west of Leesburg in Cherokee County began in December 2020 and is anticipated to be complete in 2023,” ALDOT said in the release.

Vulcan is the contractor for the nearly 6-mile project. This construction includes grading, drainage, base and paving on a new alignment.

The project will complete the four-lane corridor from the Cherokee County seat at Centre to Interstate 759 and Interstate 59 in Gadsden. This will provide Cherokee County with its first four-lane connection to an interstate highway.
