JACKSONVILLE – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers picked up a pair of softball wins at the Spring Swing Tournament at Jacksonville State’s University Field on Monday. They defeated Gaylesville 15-0 in three innings and rallied for an 8-5 victory over Randolph County.
In the win over Gaylesville, Abbey Steward led the Lady Panthers with a pair of doubles, a walk, a run and three RBIs. Neely Welsh tripled, scored two runs and had a RBI. Kayley Kirk doubled, walked, scored two runs and had a RBI. Avery Steward doubled, walked, scored two runs and had two RBIs. Helena Ingram doubled, scored a run and had two RBIs. Olivia Law doubled and drove in two runs.
Avery Steward picked up the win. She tossed a one-hitter and had four strikeouts.
Against Randolph County, the Lady Panthers trailed 5-2 before scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead and the win.
Madison Brown posted a pair of hits, including a double, with two runs and a RBI. Helena Ingram tripled, walked, scored two runs and had a RBI. Layla Ingram doubled, scored a run and drove in another. Kirk collected a pair of hits and scored a run. Welsh contributed a hit and two RBIs. Avery Steward added a hit, a run and a RBI.
Avery Steward also earned the win. She allowed five earned runs on six hits with four walks.
