Gas Prices Reportedly Rising More Rapidly in Alabama than in Other Areas

People in Alabama are now paying more for gasoline on average than EVER.

According to Triple A Alabama, the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gas is $4.13 – seven cents higher than the old record price of $4.05 – recorded September 16th of 2008.  The national average is $4.38, up another 13 cents in one day.  A month ago, the average price in Alabama was 93 cents cheaper, standing at $3.21 a gallon.  The increase is the highest in the nation over that time.  Just one year ago, the average was $2.57.  The price of diesel fuel also went over the $5.00, to hit an average of $5.02.

The five highest prices in Alabama’s metro areas:

  • Anniston-Oxford at $4.16.
  • Dothan at $4.16.
  • Montgomery at $4.16.
  • Birmingham at $4.15.
  • Daphne-Foley-Fairhope at $4.13.

The most expensive counties for a gallon of gas, according to AAA Alabama:

  • Macon County at $4.35.
  • Wilcox County at $4.27.
  • Cherokee County at $4.26.
  • Bibb County at $4.25.
