Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff Mark Schrader has informed media outlets that an inmate who was recently transported to the State Prison System from the Chattooga County Jail tested positive for COVID-19.

Schrader said the inmate population at the jail has been made aware of the situation.

The sheriff said, “Currently we’re following our medical providers recommendations for our inmate population, and at this time no inmates have any symptoms similar to those seen with the COVID illness.  We’ll continue to monitor, isolate, and follow our (medical) providers recommendations.”
