Cherokee County Invests in Additional Life Saving Medical Equipment for First Responders

The Monday morning meeting of the Cherokee County Commission held great news for the county’s emergency personnel – which, in turn, means even better news for the community as the County Commission voted to move forward with the purchase of twenty (20) Lucas 3 chest compression units.  That action came on the heels of a presentation made during the planning session by Cherokee County EMA Director, Shawn Rogers – who stressed the need for these vital pieces of life-saving equipment.

Rogers pointed out that in a case of cardiac arrest, time is of the essence – as, within four to five minutes brain damage could develop and that’s where these units can help make all the difference in the world; Rogers again stressed the importance of obtaining additional units, and shared his plan for their strategic placement:

That expenditure is a reimbursable action through the Cares Act, and all the pieces are now in place to follow through with the purchase – the new equipment will hopefully be in place in just a few short weeks.

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Commission will be held Monday. January 11th at 10:00am in the County Administration Building on the Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.
