During this week’s meeting of the Centre City Council the council approved a step raise for Officer Tom Duke in addition to approving the purchase of six self contained breathing apparatus devices for the Centre Fire Department in the amount of $52,536.00 from Sunbelt Fire.

Some brief discussion was also given regarding to complaints received some of the pitching mounds at the Dixie Youth Fields. The council approved the purchase of two mounds in the amount of $2,489.98.

The council also announced that the repair of a SWAT vehicle that will be shared between the police and fire department was approved. The cost of the repair for a blown head casket was $2,538.52 from Motes Diesel. The vehicle only has 16,000 miles on it.

Some brief discussion was also given to the repair of the roof at the Centre Police Department Headquarters. Mayor Tony Wilkie said that the issue of finding a building inspector that meets state criteria. Mayor stated that LADD Engineering is also doing work at the city park doing some work pertaining to a walking track and several other renovation projects.

Mayor Wilkie said that he met with the Architect on the armory building project and that he has a preliminary drawing from the prior engineer, the new engineer is in the process of moving forward with the project.

The Centre City Council meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month with a work session at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting at 5:00 p.m. at Centre City Hall in the Council Chambers.
