Circuit Judge Candidate Scott Lloyd Visits WEIS Radio Studios

Deputy District Attorney for Cherokee and DeKalb counties and candidate for District Judge Place 2, Scott Lloyd – joined WEIS Radio Morning Show Host Jerry Baker recently to discuss the upcoming election and several issues that should be on the mind of everyone interested in the betterment of the community they live in.

Lloyd shared extensive information on his background, from growing up in DeKalb County where he graduated from Plainview High School in 1989, to his graduation from Auburn University in 1993, after which he studied law at the University of Georgia where he earned his law degree in 1996.

After working briefly with a private firm in Gadsden, Lloyd made his way back to Cherokee County, and has worked as an Assistant District Attorney for more than 20 years now.  Over the course of that time, he has handled literally thousands of cases, both civil and criminal – with a conviction rate of better than 90%.

When asked if there were things that he would like to see changed if he were to become the next District Judge, Lloyd said yes, there certainly was:

Scott Lloyd is a son of DeKalb County, longtime resident of Cherokee County and has served in the District Attorney’s office covering both counties for over 20 years.

Scott was born January 22, 1971, to Jimmy and Ina Lloyd. Growing up, his family lived in Rainsville and attended Robertson Chapel United Methodist Church. Scott was educated in the DeKalb County school system and graduated from Plainview High School in 1989. He graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University in 1993. While at Auburn, Scott was a member of FarmHouse Fraternity. After college, he studied law at the University of Georgia where he earned his law degree in 1996.  After law school, Scott briefly practiced at a private firm in Gadsden, however, his passion for justice and for our legal system quickly drew him back home and into a position as an Assistant District Attorney serving both Cherokee and DeKalb counties.

Scott has worked in the District Attorney’s office for more than 20 years, and over that time he has handled thousands of cases, both civil and criminal – including everything from child support to homicides. His conviction rate is over 90%.  He especially enjoys the time that he spends working with local law enforcement officers to protect our communities.  Scott and his wife Laura have been married 20 years; they have twin 14-year old daughters, Caroline & Sarah.  The Lloyds are active members at Centre First United Methodist Church.

Scott is on the Executive Committee for the Partnership for a Drug-Free Cherokee, coaches youth sports, and is the coach for the Centre Middle School debate team. Scott also enjoys fishing, hiking, gardening, and the occasional 5K race.

Scott is a political outsider, not a career politician.  He has never run for office before.  Scott is a conservative Republican who is pro-Constitution, pro-Second Amendment, and pro-Life. He is also a member of the Cherokee County Republican Executive Committee.
