“X-Files” unveils season-11 trailer at New York Comic Con

(L-R) David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Chris Carter – FOX(NEW YORK) — Sunday’s X-Files panel, marking the final day of New York Comic Con, kicked off with stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, cast member Mitch Pileggi and creator Chris Carter unveiling a new trailer for the sci-fi series’ upcoming 11th season.

The clip features quick glimpses of car chases, graveyards, monsters and aliens before Anderson’s Dana Scully warns Duchovny’s Fox Mulder from her hospital bed, “You have to find him and you have to stop him before he releases hell on Earth.”

The trailer ends, with Mulder standing alone and Scully’s voice saying, “The truth still lies in the X-Files Mulder.”

As for the series upcoming season, Carter revealed that Scully and Mulder’s relationship takes a turn for the better as the couple gets “kissin’ close,” but adds that they are “still professional partners…not romantic partners, ” according to Entertainment Weekly. The search for their son William also will provide a major plot point, with Carter explaining the season will “explore that relationship: father, son, mother…You’ll see more of William than you’ve seen in a long time.”

Pileggi’s character, Assistant Director Skinner – who seems to have lost the trust of the two partners – will also get an entire episode devoted to him.

Carter teased a few Easter eggs as well, noting, “There’s things on Mulder’s bulletin board,” and that fans can expect the season to end on another cliffhanger.

The X-Files returns for its 11th season in 2018 on Fox.
