Man erects 58 white crosses in front of iconic ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign

Drew Angerer/Getty Images(NEW YORK) – An Illinois man known for his previous tributes to mass shooting victims traveled across the country Thursday to set up 58 white crosses near the Las Vegas Strip.

In front of the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, Greg Zanis arranged one cross for every person who was killed when a gunman opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival last Sunday.

The white wooden crosses were adorned with a red heart and a picture of each victim.

Zanis erected similar displays after other mass shootings in Columbine, Newtown and Orlando.

The artist traveled nearly 2,000 miles from Aurora, Illinois, to honor the victims in Las Vegas, according to ABC News Los Angeles.

Zanis did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
