A tentative agreement was reportedly reached by Goodyear and United Steelworkers over the weekend – shortly before Goodyear’s current four-year contract was due to end.
That new master labor contract will cover approximately 7,000 workers at five U.S. plants, including Gadsden, for a five year period.
The tentative agreement is still subject to ratification vote by USW members at those plants in Alabama, Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia and Ohio.
The votes are expected to take place within the next several weeks.
Goodyear has operated in Gadsden since 1929 and currently employs just over 1,500.
