Military helicopter crashes in southern Maryland

File Photo iStock/Thinkstock(LEONARDTOWN, Md.) — A U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter crashed at a golf course in Leonardtown, Maryland shortly before 2 p.m. EST on Monday, officials told ABC News.

A spokesperson from Fort Belvoir, where the helicopter was based, said at least one crew member was medically evacuated from the accident site. It is unclear if there are any fatalities.

Maryland State Police were assisting with the medical evacuation following the incident.
