Vermelle Bonfanti Discusses Annual Delores Melton Easter Egg Hunts

The 20th Century Club is extremely pleased to present a special series of events guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of youngsters across the county – that being the annual Delores Melton East Egg Hunt in the Cedar Bluff Town Park.

This year there are actually a series of three different hunts.

That first hunt, which is designed for special needs children across the county, actually took place at noon Wednesday – with around 50 children being brought to the park by bus; that hunt featured special gifts and prizes as part of the game with fun for all being the goal.

The next hunt is set for this Saturday, and will get underway at 12:30, with several different age categories.  There’ll be goody bags and drawings for great grand prizes such as bicycles.  You can also take photos with the Easter Bunny, and other costumed characters throughout the day.

Later that evening, at around 7:30, the third and final hunt will get underway – a “Flashlight Hunt” for students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grade.  There will be some special prizes for that event as well.

This annual event is open to the public and has become a tradition in the area, honoring the memory of Delores Melton who wanted children in our community to be able to experience the joy of an old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt.

Bonfanti said the 20th Century Club is always looking for new members to help give back to the community; they meet the second Monday of each month at the Cedar Bluff Community Center starting at 6:00pm.

Vermelle Bonfanti with the 20th Century Club visited the WEIS Radio studios earlier in the week and spoke with Morning Show Host Jerry Baker about the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
