Your Body: Vision Trouble While Driving at Night

For some, the combination of the darkness and glare of oncoming headlights can cause some vision issues.

Night driving problems can sometimes have a simple fix like cleaning dirty lenses. But other times it can be the sign of something more significant: A corneal problem, an astigmatism that’s uncorrected, or something significant like a cataract.

This recently happened to me one night after I dropped my daughter off at school. I had fuzzy halos around everything and I actually thought I couldn’t make it home. It prompted an immediate visit to my eye doctor. I had both dry eye and a mild astigmatism.

Remember: Eye health is important — not just for you, but potentially for the safety of others.
