“The Walking Dead” Still Slaying: #1 Show on TV for Fifth Straight Season

AMC/Gene PageAMC’s The Walking Dead, which is mid-way through its seventh season, has notched a personal best: ending its run for 2016 as the Number One show on TV for the fifth straight season.

The show has attracted an average audience of 16.1 million viewers this season to date.

According to Nielsen numbers quoted in an AMC press release, the show’s mid-season finale, which aired Sunday night, attracted a large audience demographically speaking, as well: 15.2 million viewers total, which included including 9.6 million adults in the key 18-49 demographic, as well as and 9.5 million adults in the 25-54 age range.

The exec added, alluding to Rick Grimes’ gang finally bracing for a fight against Negan’s Saviors army: “Get ready to ‘Rise Up’ this February.”

The show returns on Feb. 12, 2017 at 9 p.m. Eastern on AMC.
