Former JetBlue Flight Attendant Pleads Guilty to Drug Smuggling Charge

Obtained by ABC News(LOS ANGELES) — The former JetBlue flight attendant who is accused of trying to smuggle nearly 60 pounds of cocaine in carry-on luggage through Los Angeles International Airport has entered a guilty plea in federal court.

Marsha Gay Reynolds, a 32-year-old former Jamaican beauty queen and nursing student, was off-duty on Mar. 18 when she flashed her badge at a security checkpoint for a New York-bound flight from Los Angeles. Authorities said she and her bags were then randomly selected by Transportation Security Administration agents for a secondary screening.

Reynolds allegedly kicked off her heels and bolted, abandoning her luggage, and the reported 60 pounds of cocaine, with security.

She boarded a flight to New York the next day, as a JetBlue flight attendant before she was identified, and surrendered to federal agents in the city a few days later, according to authorities.

Reynolds pleaded guilty Monday to a single count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and now faces at least 10 years in federal prison.
