Cedar Bluff Teacher is Suspended Without Pay for Five Days

Cherokee Co Board of Education

A Cedar Bluff Math Teacher has been suspended without pay following a Special Called meeting of the Cherokee County Board on Friday morning.

The only item on the agenda was listed under personnel and Superintendent Mitchell Guice made a recommendation that the board move to suspend Duane Little, Math Teacher at Cedar Bluff without pay following an incident at the school on Thursday.

Guice said that a student shouted that it was time to go to break and that’s when Little poked the student in the chest causing him to fall over a desk. The second was by board member Mark Gossett and the motion passed.

The suspension of Little will run Monday through Friday, September 26th through 30th.

The only other issue discussed during the course of the brief meeting was the re-scheduling of the next Board of Education meeting from Tuesday October 4th at 5:00pm to Wednesday October 5th at 2:00pm.

The meeting was then adjourned.
