First Lady Michelle Obama to Stump for Hillary Clinton

Michael Davidson for Hillary for America(WASHINGTON) — First lady Michelle Obama will make her campaigning debut for Hillary Clinton on Friday in the swing state of Virginia.

Obama — who in her husband’s presidential races was dubbed “the closer” for her effectiveness on the stump — most recently demonstrated her prowess as a campaign surrogate with a well-received speech at the Democratic National Convention in July.

Without directly mentioning Donald Trump by name in her convention address, the first lady delivered sharp criticism of the Republican nominee while laying out her case for why voters should do for Clinton what they did twice for her husband and elect the Democratic nominee president.

“Don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great, that somehow we need to make it great again,” Obama said in her convention speech. “Because this right now is the greatest country on Earth. And as my daughters prepare to set out into the world, I want a leader who is worthy of that truth.”

The first lady will stump on Clinton’s behalf on Friday at what the White House said is a “public organizing event” at George Mason University to “urge Virginians, especially young people, to support Clinton and Kaine in November and register to vote ahead of the October 17 deadline.”
