ABC(LOS ANGELES) — The season-23 premiere of Dancing with the Stars was interrupted by unauthorized incursion onto the ballroom dance floor Monday night during a judge’s critique of disgraced U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte.
It wasn’t immediately clear what was happening, but it appeared an unauthorized person may have rushed out onto the ballroom dance floor. There were shouts of “liar!” during the live broadcast.
Lochte and his professional partner, Cheryl Burke, seemed bemused but otherwise unaffected.
The show went to a commercial break, and upon its return co-host Tom Bergeron explained that there had been “an incident.” He thanked the show’s security team for acting swiftly.
