A 17 year old Cave Spring teenager drowned Monday afternoon on Weiss Lake.
Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton stated that the teen was playing a water game with friends near a pier at a residence on Big Nose Drive in Centre when he went under and failed to resurface.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found the body of the victim, now identified as John Michael Jacob LeCroy, underneath the pier
The body is being sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
The investigation into the matter is on-going.
