Murder suspect Terry McKinney has apparently been transported to the Etowah County Detention Center.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, McKinney has been transferred to a larger facility better equipped to accommodate his special needs.

McKinney was transferred on Saturday to the Etowah County Detention Facility.

In a News Release issued on Saturday Sheriff Shaver said that a Federal Bureau of Investigation K9 team arrived from Quantico, Virginia, to aid in the search for evidence in the along Alabama Highway 273 and County Road 47.

McKinney is being charged with murder after human remains were found scattered along portions of County Road 82 in Cedar Bluff last Sunday, those remains are believed to belong to Cedar Bluff resident Leroy “Pete” Foster although official DNA Identification has not been completed.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for McKinney’s residence the same day remains were discovered and turned up evidence which led to McKinney being arrested and charged with murder.

Members of the Tucker’s Chapel Volunteer Fire Department assisted officers from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Major Crimes Task Force as the investigation continues.
