Gadsden Police are investigating a domestic incident over the weekend involving an 11-year-old child’s punishment.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call at 11 p.m. Friday on Eastview Avenue. Several witnesses said an 11-year-old boy was heard running down the street screaming for help.
Upon investigation, a witness said that the boy’s 34-year-old mother had attempted to punish him by tying a belt around his neck and choking him several times following his making a bad grade on a test.
The boy was taken in at a neighbor’s house, and the Department of Human Resources implemented a safety plan for the child.
Police said the boy had no visible marks on his neck. The incident is under investigation.
