Firefighters from Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville and Centre responded to a house fire Saturday morning on Old Alabama Highway 9 across from Cedar Bluff School.
The call came in just after 7 a.m. and firefighters arrived to find the home fully involved with flames shooting out of the front porch area and heavy smoke, which was visible from as far away as the causeway.
People were home at the time of the fire, and all were able to get out safely.
However, it is believed a family pet died in the fire.
Cedar Bluff Fire Chief Matthew Sprayberry says the exact cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
The home sustained extensive damage.
