Man Charged With Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident

Wood, Robert Nelson42 year old Robert Nelson Wood is now behind bars, after leaving the scene of a fatal accident in Cedartown, Georgia.

According to reports, Wood was driving on the Tallapoosa Highway early Sunday morning when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch and rolled over.

He fled the scene of the accident leaving two young children ages five and six, behind; they were the children of his girlfriend, who was not in the vehicle at the time.

Both children were flown to a Chattanooga-area hospital, and it was there, that six year old Trent Brooks died; his five year old sister, Gabriel, is currently listed in critical condition.

Robert Wood was finally taken into custody, less than three-quarters of a mile from the crash site following a 12-hour manhunt which involved helicopters and a K-9 unit.

Wood’s license was reportedly suspended and he was also on probation.
