ALBERTVILLE – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers pounded out 16 hits and scored at least one run in the first five innings, leading to a 9-2 softball win in the Class 1A East Regional at Albertville’s Sand Mountain Park on Wednesday morning.
Layla Ingram led the Lady Panthers at the plate by hitting for the cycle. She went 4-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run in the fourth inning, tripled in the fifth, doubled in the second and finished with four RBIs.
Helena Ingram went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and a RBI. Addie Word and Rylie Ham were also both 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI apiece.
Kylie Bates doubled and drove in a run. Lilly McCain added a hit, a walk and a run. Maggie Jarrett delivered a hit and scored a run. Olivia Law drew a walk.
McCain managed the win in the circle. She tossed all seven innings and allowed an earned run on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Lady Panthers will play Skyline at 1:45 p.m. in the winners bracket. Skyline defeated Appalachian 9-2 in other first round action on Wednesday.
