Spring Garden, Cherokee County advance to winners bracket of Cherokee County Softball Tournament

CEDAR BLUFF – The Cherokee County Softball Tournament got underway on Thursday at Cedar Bluff. The following is a recap of the day’s action.

Cedar Bluff 12, Gaylesville 0

Kyriah Vadon tossed a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts. She was also 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs in helping Cedar Bluff blank Gaylesville 12-0 in the first round of the Cherokee County Softball Tournament on Thursday.

Ciana Smith and Rylie Walker both went 2-for-3. Smith homered, scored three runs and had three RBIs. Walker scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Makayla Kimmons doubled and drove in a run. Anna Henderson contributed a hit. Kylie Vadon walked and scored twice. Jacie Clowdis walked, scored a run and drove in a run. Mackenzie Kimmons walked and scored a run. Logan Goza scored a run.

Lydia Reynolds had the Lady Trojans’ lone hit. She finished 1-for-2 with a walk. Reynolds also suffered the loss after giving up four earned runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Spring Garden 10, Sand Rock 2

Maggie Jarrett went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, a run and three RBIs to lead the Spring Garden Lady Panthers past Sand Rock 10-2 in Cherokee County Softball Tournament action on Thursday.

Avery Steward doubled, walked twice, scored twice and had a RBI. Helena Ingram had a hit, a run and two RBIs. Layla Ingram came away with a hit and two runs. Rylie Ham had a hit, a walk and a run. Olivia Law contributed a hit and a RBI.

Lilly McCain walked, scored a run and had a RBI. Addie Word scored twice. Paisley Woodall walked.

Steward earned the win after working all five innings. She gave up two earned runs on two hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Aliyah King and Raven Todd had the only two hits for Sand Rock. King also walked and scored a run. Aubie Camp came away with a walk, a run and a RBI. Macy Martin and Emma Sipsy both drew a walk. Alyvia McMichen drove in a run.

Martin suffered the loss after tossing four innings. She gave up two earned runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Cherokee County 7, Cedar Bluff 2

CEDAR BLUFF – Emma Hill tossed four innings of scoreless one-hit ball. She walked two and struck out eight in leading the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 7-2 victory over Cedar Bluff in the Cherokee County Softball Tournament on Thursday.

Emma Eberhart led the Lady Warriors at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two runs. Izzy Patterson doubled, walked, scored two runs and had a RBI. Sophie Dawson delivered a hit and scored two runs. Kar’Leigh Bowman had a hit and a RBI. Kaylee Lewis scored a run and drove in one. Makenzie Parker drew a walk.

Bristol Bass tossed two innings for the Lady Warriors. She gave up two unearned runs on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Tylee Bradford doubled and drove in two runs for Cedar Bluff. Rylie Walker singled and scored a run. Paityn Walker finished with a hit. Kaylyn Vadon scored a run.

Kaylyn Vadon also suffered the loss. She tossed 3 1/3 innings and gave up an earned run on three hits with two walks. Mackenzie Kimmons worked 1 2/3 innings and gave up an earned run on two hits.

Cherokee County advances to the winners bracket where it will take on Spring Garden on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Cedar Bluff awaits the winner of the 4 p.m. elimination game between Gaylesville and Sand Rock at 7 p.m.
