Gadsden State to Host Community Events Throughout October

Gadsden State Community College is gearing up for a month of fun festivities, including its annual Candy with the Cardinals. The event will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 22 on the Wallace Drive Campus Quad.

“The event is free and is perfect for families and community members who want to enjoy a variety of games, arts and entertainment in a safe and festive environment,” said Lynn Patterson, director of Student Activities.

Candy with the Cardinals has fun activities, including face painting, candy corn art and a bookmark design station.

“We will have craft sessions that will offer a fun way to create keepsakes,“ she said. “We will have a variety of games to play, too. There’s something for everyone.”

Attendees can enjoy the vibrant sounds of the popular Gadsden State Show Band and spend some time with members of Gadsden State’s baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, cross country and tennis teams.

“In addition to these fun activities, Candy with the Cardinals will offer opportunities for prospective students to learn more about Gadsden State’s academic, technical and health science programs,” Patterson said. “We will have enrollment specialists on-site to provide admissions information and discuss the variety of programs we have to offer.”

Gadsden State’s Ayers campus in Anniston is also hosting Candy with the Cardinals from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 on the Cheaha Career Center lawn. Activities will include games, prizes, candy, face painting and more.

Gadsden State’s Cherokee Campus will host Movie on the Lawn from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 on the Academic Building front lawn. Bring a chair. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

A Trunk or Treat event will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the front Academic Building parking lot on Gadsden State’s Cherokee Campus. The event will include Trunk or Treat, games, candy, face painting and an opportunity to have your picture made with Swoop.

Events are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Lynn Patterson, director of Student Activities, at 256-549-8212.
