Valley Head pulls away from Cedar Bluff for 34-13 football victory

VALLEY HEAD – The Valley Head Tigers pulled away for a 34-13 victory against Cedar Bluff in the high school football opener for both teams on Friday.

Tytan Blevins put the home team up 7-0 on a 35-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Cedar Bluff (0-1) tied the game at 7 on Hunter Stallings’ 54-yard touchdown toss to Caleb Edmondson later in the quarter.

Stallings completed 13 of 21 pass attempts for 194 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 92 yards on 12 carries and had nine tackles on defense including two for loss. Edmondson caught five passes for 108 yards and a score.

Valley Head (1-0) regained the lead on Ben Johnson’s 65-yard touchdown run, but Cedar Bluff countered with Kadien Tracy’s 2-yard score to tie the game at 13 at the end of the first quarter.

Johnson and Nate Bain accounted for Valley Head’s next two scores in the second quarter on runs of 59 and 7 yards to give the home Tigers a 26-13 edge.

Cayson McElrath added a 10-yard TD run in the fourth for the final.

Cedar Bluff hosts Collinsville on Friday. Valley Head is also at home against Section.
