Cherokee County Commission Meeting

During the Monday afternoon Cherokee County Commission Meeting, Chairman Tim Burgess addressed the Commission to approve the proposal for inspection services with Koorsen Fire & Security at a cost of $891.00 and authorized the Chairman to sign. The Commission then approved to appoint Chairman Tim Burgess to serve on the 2024-2025 Association of County Commissioners of Alabama Legislative Committee.

Next on the agenda, was for the Commission to approve the contractual agreement with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to provide for the collection, management, disposal of regulated solid waste funded by the Alabama Solid Waste Fund and authorize the Chairman to sign. Also, to approve an amendment to the Fiscal Year Budget 24 to move $ 100,000.00 from line 180 to line 551 in the LATCF Fund for the purchase of two patrol vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department. The Commission approved both of these items.

The Commission awarded the bid for three skid units to NAFECO in the amount of $61,000. Next, the Commission approved the Senior Community Service Employment Program Host Agency Agreement for the period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 and authorized the Chairman to sign.

Chairman Burgess informed the Commission about the upcoming bond closing on July 25th for the new Courthouse and conveyance of deed for the new Courthouse property to  the Cherokee Building Authority. This was approved by the Commission.

The next Cherokee County Commission Meeting will be August 12th at 10am.
