Centre Middle School Principal Moving To Bus Shop
The Cherokee County Board of Education met in regular session Monday afternoon with the approval of Personnel Actions on the Agenda. Casey Young, Principal of Centre Middle School was approved for Transfer to the Bus Shop as Supervisor replacing retiring Supervisor, Scott Hayes, effective July 1. In other Transfers, the Board approved Tisha Cox, an elementary teacher, to move to the Mathematics Coach, which is a new position at Gaylesville School, effective with the 2024-25 school year.
Other personnel actions approved included retirements with Sherry Abernathy, Elementary Teacher at CES retiring with 24 years of service, effective June 1. Donnie Chandler, Bus Driver at Cedar Bluff School, retiring with 21 years of service, effective June 1. Sonya Hale, Central Office Receptionist and Bookkeeper retiring with 24 years of service, effective July 1, pending TRS Approval. Angela Mintz, Science Teacher at Cherokee County High, retiring with 27 years of service, effective June 1.
The Board approved 1 certified placement, 8 contract positions, 3 leaves of absences, 13 Pay Supplements, 2 substitute renewals, and 1 new substitute and 7 Job Postings.
The Board also approved the Energy Savings Budget for The Cherokee County Career and Tech Center and Energy Amendments for Centre Middle School and Cherokee County High.
The Central Office will be getting a new postage meter from Pitney Bowes which was approved during the meeting.
It was approved for Amy Self and the Sand Rock Varsity Cheerleaders to attend Cheer Camp at Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia July 10-13 which is to be funded by students and fundraising.
The Next Meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education will be on May 6th in the County Commission Meeting Room in the Admin Building.
